SONAMURA, June 17 (TIWN): One Ali Mia of age 50 died at Sonamura, on the opposite side of the fencing. Reportedly, Ali Mia like everyday went for cultivation crossing the border in Indian land. Those lands although on the opposite side of the border but it still belong to India and known as disputed or No-Man's-Land. But suddenly he fall on the water and died as the water-level increased due to rainfalls in last 24 hours. Getting informed although fire brigade came, but they were much late as well as it took some time to open the gate by BSF as for the security purpose BSF jawans are not provided with the gate key. Later, local people, BSF, fire brigade recovered his dead body from the lake. Soon, the body was sent to hospital but doctors declared him as dead. A post mortem however was done following the incident. The incident took place at Sonamura's Bor Narayan area under Jatrapur PS. Sonamura source said that the incident occurred at Dhanpur under Taijyamura Village; the border fencing there already completed. But the border fencing which was done on the zero point many paddy fields of Indian are now under Bangladesh

  Time to time BSF opens gate in necessary time and locks it. Via No-6 gate Ali Mia went with his cattle and in the leisure time he was found sitting nearby the pond, but anyhow he fall into the deep pond. People from this observed his fall but as the gate was closed, so they could not save him.

On the other side BSF No-145 had no key of the gate as it was in the BOP. As a result it took around 2 hours to bring the key and thus he died helplessly. Locals have alleged BSF for negligence, whereas report says that BSF did their jobs as per the rule.
